Online retailer Amazon has been profiting from the sale of disturbing Kindle books promoting child abuse, incest, rape and even beastiality, it has been revealed.

Sold as Kindle editions – cheap e-books available only for download to the eponymous e-readers sold by the website – the sickening books seemingly violate guidelines for self-publishers, but are widely available.

First outed on Twitter by author Jeremy Duns, the extent of the titles' availability on Amazon was disclosed after an investigation by The Kernel.

Barely legal: These books tiptoe the line of illegality by disclaiming the rapist is a step-father

Some of the titles found by The Kernel include Naughty Daughter Abducted And Pounded By Daddy's C**k: A**l Sex And BDSM With My Step Father (taboo daddy daughter erotica) and Forced By My Big Brother: Sleep Sex And Defloration With My Unaware Little Step Sister (nonconsensual taboo teen sex erotica).

Many titles are written by Shannon Leigh, who may not have gone to great lengths to cover up her true identity.

'Ms Leigh shares her name with an occupational health nurse for the US government who lives with her husband and four children in Indiana and who writes erotic fiction,' The Kernel’s report said.

Written to satisfy the depraved desires and fantasies of the individuals buying the books, they tiptoe the line of illegality by pronouncing the subjects of the novels are 'over 18,' according to The Kernel, and confirmed by a MailOnline search.

Also, as both The Kernel noted and MailOnline's search discovered, the fathers said to be raping their daughters in these Kindle titles are not blood related, and are often step-parents.

They even get pregnant: Many of the books go beyond disturbing fantasies into revolting outcomes such as incest babies and obsessive affairs with animals

Even so, the suggestions made in just the preview – on Amazon's site in plain view of anyone – for Dad Punished Me are chilling.

Similarly, rape titles such as Dark Secrets: She Wanted It and I Begged Him to Stop but He Wouldn't proliferate Amazon's online marketplace, as discovered by Jeremy Duns and MailOnline.

The preview for the latter title includes the following: 'Warning: this story contains scenes of dubious consent and graphic sex scenes. It is written for discerning adults (18+) and is FANTASY ONLY.'

Amazon allows these novels to sell despite the following self-publishing guidelines.

'We don't accept pornography or offensive depictions of graphic sexual acts,' the guidelines read. 'What we deem offensive is probably about what you would expect.'

Left to interpretation, many amateur authors have uploaded dozens of unsettling works. Though not able to be found by searching, all an individual needs is the direct link to one novel to see  'customers who bought this also bought.'

Bestiality, incest and rape: There’s seemingly no topic too taboo to be a Kindle Edition

That widget navigates shoppers through the perverse selection of titles Amazon won't display for general sale, but happily profits from as they hide in plain sight.

Similarly awful, MailOnline discovered several tales of bestiality including Doggy Style and Dog Gone It!

'She enjoys the touch of fur against her skin, craves sharp teeth against her flesh, and yearns to be clawed by the handsome, masculine creature,' reads the preview for Doggie Style.

Amazon has taken down the titles named in The Kernel article, but an endless supply of alternatives are a click away.

Not searchable: Though not for general sale, these depraved novels can be found by savvy web shoppers

Daddy Stop It Hurts, Daddy Eats Me for Dinner and Forced to F**k Daddy in Diapers are all still available.

Self-publishers may be skirting the guidelines by setting up their own publishing houses, according to The Kernel. All that takes is the payment of a $ 200 fee to purchase a set of ISBN prefixes from the Library of Congress, the site noted.

Amazon did not reply to The Kernel's initial request for comment, and has not responded to a subsequent MailOnline message left for comment.
