Your next Kindle Fire or Nexus 7 tablet could cost as little as $ 99 - TabTimes

Despite the Kindle Fire starting from just $ 159 and Acer’s Iconia B1 and Asus’ new Memo Pad HD 7 going for as little as $ 149 and $ 129 respectively, it appears that Android tablet prices will fall even cheaper later this year.

Citing Taiwanese ODM sources, DigiTimes says that a flurry of 7-inch tablets $ 99 will be Launched in the third quarter of this year, although the news website does name vendors or detail prospective new models.
This is not the first time speculation has done the rounds on the arrival of sub-$ 100 tablets, although it appears as though most vendors will be keeping a beady eye on the competition before making any move.
Indeed, DigiTimes says that “many brand vendors” are intersted to see on how the MeMo Pad HD 7 fares.
The $ 129 tablet was announced at Computex last week and features a 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, a quad-core Cortex A7 processor, 8GB or 16GB of storage and dual-facing cameras. Perhaps most impressive of all is that the slate runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest major iteration of Android.
