To kindle scientific temper among students – The Hindu

The day long Science Awareness Programme brought up by the Vysya College here on Saturday enabled in kindling scientific temper among a large number of school students.

The event organised by the Department of Life Science of the college, was sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST).

P. Venkatesan, principal, inaugurated. In the sessions that followed, E.G. Wesley, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Arignar Anna Government Arts and Science College, Namakkal, addressed the students on the 'Importance of Bio-Science in the present scenario.' P. Nazni, Associate Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Periyar University, spoke on 'foot technology.' The final session on the 'negative effects of fast food' was handled by V. Sivanarayanan, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Vysya College. Students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, and Government Girls HSS, both in Ayodhiyapattanam; Gugai Government Girls HSS; Holy Cross Matriculation School, Swami Matriculation School, Masinaickanpatti; Vidya Mandir Matriculation School, Ayodhiyapattanam and Jayaram Matriculation School, Sinna Tirupathi, participated in the awareness programme.
