Amazon Kindle Fire HD 6 Gets Torn Apart And Receives 8/10 Repairability Score – Android Headlines – Android News

Amazon announced their Kindle Fire HD 6 and Kindle Fire HD 7 tablets back in September while they started shipping them in early October. These are extremely cheap Android 4.4 KitKat tablets with Amazon's Fire OS on top of them. This basically means that these devices are heavily skinned and you wouldn't able to tell they're Android tablets just by looking at the UI, if you didn't know what they're all about of course. Kindle Fire HD 6 is now priced at $ 99 at Amazon, which is of course really affordable. Anyhow, let's check out its specs.

The Kindle Fire HD 6 comes sporting a 6-inch 1280 x 800 IPS LCD display, which is kind of odd considering some phones (phablets) ship with screens over 6-inches are not considered tablets while this thing is. The tablet also comes with 1GB of RAM and either 8 or 16GB of non-expandable internal storage. The Kindle Fire HD 6 features a 2-megapixel main camera which is located at the back of the device, there's also a front-facing VGA shooter included in the package. The device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor and it has a 3400mAh battery on the inside. The device measures 169 x 103 x 10.7mm while it weighs 290 grams. As you can see, this tablet isn't exactly designed to steal the spotlight, but it does the trick.

iFixit decided to tear this tablet apart and show us every little piece that hides inside of it. If you want to check that out just take a look at the gallery below where you can find a ton of images, courtesy of iFixit. Nothing is left undisclosed, so if you think of getting one of these guys you probably want to know what hides inside of them, just to let you know, iFixit gave this thing an 8 out of 10 repairability score. Now that we got that out of the way, let me hear from you. Did you ever own a Kindle Fire tablet, if yes, how did you like it? Do you intend to buy a Kindle Fire HD 6 or Kindle Fire HD 7 tablets or are you bothered with the skin Amazon implements on top of Android?
